Salary: minimum LA 4 $13.00, LA 3 $14, LA 2 $15, LA 1 $16

Typical Responsibilities of Position

  • Collection Maintenance: shelving, pulling holds, weeding, cleaning, ect.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Assist with organization and execution of library services and programs
  • Recognizes collection trends, topics, communicating public requests and collection gaps.
  • Monitors technology trends in the library providing input to enhance the user’s experience and stream line staff workflows.
  • Assist in developing and insuring net inclusion.
  • Assists in the team development of best practices, creating procedures and tools for cross training library staff, developing a positive work culture.
  • Assist in the planning/presenting of engaging library events.
  • Engage in outreach activities promoting library initiatives and reaching underserved community areas.
  • Assist in assuring the accuracy of the public catalog, reporting corrections and enhancements for easier public use.
  • Learn and implement emerging technology, databases, applications, personal digital devices, social media, and library programming trends to develop skills to assist customers.
  • Engage in friendly and sincere public service assistance, including reference/ reader’s advisory and digital navigation.
  • Will provide public service at any public service desk or point of contact at all Library locations and outreach.
  • Carries out library policies and procedures with direct and compassionate approach.
  • Assists monthly with the compiling and analyzing of statistical information for the library in order to complete Indiana State Annual reporting and for supporting the library’s story.
  • Engages in serving on professional and library system committees as assigned and/or approved by leader.
  • Will engage in professional development and implement skills and ideas learned to their position.
  • Will work collaboratively with leadership to grow and expand job engagement and responsibilities.
  • Has an understanding of the library is a public service location that addresses many different demographics and is able to approach everyone with respect and empathy.
  • Responsible for maintaining state library certification if applicable.

Tools and Equipment Used

  1. Book carts for transporting materials.
  2. Circulation computer equipment, including scanner, keyboards, printers.
  3. Laptops and LCD projectors.
  4. Photocopier, microfilm/fiche reader/printer, public access computers.
  5. Digital cameras, tablets, audio equipment or any similar equipment to create multi-media presentations for a variety of uses.
