Veterans Supply Drive at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library

Starting Wednesday, October 7th, the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library will have 3 bins in the library for donating items for our veterans. These bins are located near the main desk upstairs, the Teen Scene Desk, and the Reference Services Desk. Retired Senior Volunteer Programs (RSVP) across the state are collecting items needed for the Indiana Veteran’s Home in Lafayette, IN. Items collected will be delivered to the Veteran’s Home just before Veteran’s Day.

Items needed by veterans include:

• Socks (men’s & ladies, x-large, reg., diabetic 10-13 size)
• Linen handkerchiefs. bandanas, wash cloths, hand towels
• Men’s & ladies Depend undergarments
• Sweatsuits (all sizes, men’s & ladies)
• Personal products (lotion, shampoo, polident, electric razors)
• Soft snacks (regular & diabetic)
• Bluetooth speakers (small speakers), CD/radio players
• Music of all kinds
• Maracas, small bongo drums, rhythm sticks
• Large print word search, crosswords, etc.
• Velvet pictures with markers
• Craft kits for men or women, ceramics
• Hand held games (poker, etc.)
• Life like baby dolls and stuffed animals
• Activity pillows, memory games, latch hook kits
• Phone cards, Forever stamps

Items that are not needed at this time:

• Playing cards
• Books
• Jigsaw puzzles
• TVs
• DVDs & VHS tapes
• Razors or sharp objects
• Medical supplies
• Mouthwash with alcohol
• Perfumes & colognes
• Glass items
