1:00 – 5:00 pm

Strassweg Auditorium

On Sunday, February 9 at 2 p.m. the Friends of the New Albany Library will hold their annual Book and Gift Basket Auction in the library’s auditorium. While enjoying light refreshments, you can bid on books ranging from a rare 200-year-old leather-bound volume to books autographed by best-selling authors like Pat Conroy, Elizabeth George, Amy Tan and Khaled Hosseini.

Gift baskets include the ever-popular chocolate, tea and coffee baskets–and of course, the wine basket! The Book Lovers basket combines bestsellers with a one-pound box of Schimpff’s book-shaped chocolates and a $20 gift certificate to Carmichael’s Bookstores. The crafts, kids and baking baskets are back and we also have a basket each for Fido and Kitty. New entries this year are the Amish Basket, the Bird Lovers Basket, the Wild West Chili Basket and the Monster High Basket. The Amish Basket features delicious home-made preserves with books by your favorite Amish romance writers. Bird watchers will enjoy the bird books, attractive bird feeders, bluebird box and suet in the Bird Lovers Basket. The Wild West Chili Basket has several Westerns and a Santa Fe cookbook along with the makings and recipe for some delicious chili–and to complement that chili, you’ll also get a six-pack of Lone Star beer and six beer glasses with the winning bid. Finally the Monster High Basket is a must for the teen on your list. The basket includes three Monster High dolls (Frankie Stein, Clawdeen Wolf and Draculaura), Monster High books plus copies of FRANKENSTEIN and DRACULA and one dozen special Monster High cookies courtesy of Sweet Stuff Bakery.

Beginning Saturday, January 18, some baskets and books will be featured in the downstairs display case at the library. Stop by and take a look.
