Children and teenagers can enjoy their fall break at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library with a series of festive programs and activities. Starting Saturday, October 1st, the Youth Services Department will kick off its Fall Break Programs with events including a Pokémon Scavenger Hunt, Make & Take Crafts, a Harry Potter Party, a Diwali Celebration, and Stories at the Park.

The library will offer an indoor Pokémon Scavenger Hunt activity for children and teens from Saturday, October 1st through Sunday, October 16th. Interested individuals can drop by the Children’s Room or Teen Desk to pick up a Pokedex sheet and then search throughout the library for wild Pokémon. Participants will receive a prize upon completion of the scavenger hunt.

Kids can create a seasonal craft by visiting the Children’s Room for Make & Take Crafts. The craft table will be available from Monday, October 3rd through Friday, October 14th.

Experience a magical afternoon with fellow Harry Potter fans. The Harry Potter Party will take place on Tuesday, October 4th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Applegate Room. The event will feature an enchanting craft, snacks, and a reading. Guests will also be sorted into Hogwarts houses as they participate in a team trivia contest for prizes. This event is for youth in grades 4 through 12.

Discover the bright and colorful traditions of India during a Diwali Celebration on Tuesday, October 11th at 4:00 p.m. in Strassweg Auditorium. During this family-friendly program, guests of all ages can learn about Diwali, the Indian festival of lights. The event will feature entertaining stories and an opportunity for guests to light up the library by making a decorative Diwali lantern.

Children can relax with Stories at the Park on Wednesday, October 12th at 10:00 a.m. This event will take place at Silver Street Park, located at 2043 Silver Street, New Albany, Indiana. Library staff and members of the New Albany Parks Department will share fall stories and then have a fun activity for kids.
