The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library invites the public to stop in and meet new Library Director Melissa Merida on Sunday, March 6, 2016, from 1:00-3:00 PM, in the Library’s Strassweg Auditorium. This informal “meet and greet” event is an opportunity for members of the public to introduce themselves to Melissa, and to also visit with Library Board members, department managers, and staff. Library Board Secretary Pamela Poe will say a few words to introduce Melissa, and welcome her to the Library, at 1:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served.

Melissa Merida comes to the Library after six years with Purdue Extension Floyd County, where she served as County Extension Director and 4-H Youth Development Educator. Prior to her position with the Floyd County Extension Office, she worked for the Brownstown Community School System and the Community School Corporation of Southern Hancock County, in positions relating to these school systems’ Media Centers. Merida acquired substantial library experience during her tenure with the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, where she worked in a variety of roles ranging from public service, as an inner city branch librarian and assistant manager, to program librarian and trainer serving the library’s 26 branches, to webmaster and computer trainer for library employees. The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library staff and Board of Directors welcomed Melissa Merida to the Library on Monday, February 1, 2016, her first day as Library Director.
