Guests of all ages are invited to Star Wars Day at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library. This Star Wars celebration will take place on Saturday, January 2nd from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will feature engaging entertainment for children and adults. Kids can visit the Children’s Room and enjoy a variety of Star Wars games and activities, as well as books. Attendees are welcome to dress up as their favorite characters, and they may even see a Stormtrooper walking around the bookshelves.

Starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Library’s Strassweg Auditorium, local author Dr. David West Reynolds will give a presentation called The Archaeology of Star Wars, sharing his expertise. Reynolds has an extensive personal history with the Stars Wars franchise. He tracked down the lost filming locations for the first Star Wars movie in the Sahara Desert, and ended up becoming a location scout for Hollywood, as well as a best-selling author.

During his illustrated presentation, Reynolds will share the story of his adventure and offer a look inside the making of his Star Wars guidebooks. Reynolds has written multiple Star Wars reference books, including “Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary.”

Star Wars Day is free and no registration is required. For more information, please contact the Children’s Room at 812-949-3528.
