In these difficult times, Hoopla has offered us two ways to help you get more out of the service: we’ve extended your monthly borrow limit from 8 to 12, and they’ve also introduced a collection that won’t count against your monthly borrows, called the “bonus borrows“.  We’re really excited to share these services with you while we’re missing seeing you in person.

Here’s what I’m using that extra Hoopla time for:

-I’m reading The Circular Staircase by Mary Roberts Rhineheart, which is available at that link in both ebook and audio formats, and which will be the subject of the mystery book group’s April discussion, to be held entirely online, as discussed in yesterday’s post from Greg.

-The television section has some really exciting offerings; I sorted the page by most popular using the menu options at the left and found Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Magic School Bus, The Great British Baking Show, the Dick Van Dyke Show, and a lot of other cool stuff. As a big nerd, I’m pretty excited to stay up all night watching She Wolves: England’s Early Queens, based on a nonfiction title I’ve seen around the library.

-Some movies that didn’t make it into my last post— ranging from Invasion of the Body Snatchers to the documentary Julia Child: America’s Favorite Chef, there is a lot on offer.

Comics! From Big Nate, New Kid, Percy Jackson and Phoebe and Her Unicorn for your bored kids (and yourselves– no judgment) to They Called Us Enemy, Eternals by Neil Gaiman and The Witcher comic adaptation for more mature readers, there’s a lot to love and even more to explore.

Go forth and enjoy your bounty from the comfort and safety of your home! As a reminder, if you need to create a Hoopla account, you’ll need your library card number and PIN, as well as a working email address. To get a library card number you can use while the library is closed, click here and follow the instructions under “Create Account.”
