Do you ever find yourself wondering, “What should I read next?”  Maybe you’ve finished a series and don’t know what else is similar that you might like.  Luckily, your library has a tool to help you!

If you go to our main webpage and look in the upper right corner, you’ll see a search bar.  You’ll see that underneath it says “Search All Materials” – this will give you much more information than when you just search the catalog!

Let’s say you enjoy the Miss Julia series by Ann B. Ross.  If you type “Miss Julia” into that search bar and search all materials, you get something like this.  You can see that the location and call number show where to get the book in our library collection.

One thing that might be helpful is to click on “View Series Information” under one of the titles in the series.  Then you will see a clear list of all the books in the series.

You can also click on “View Similar Authors.”  This gives you a list of authors who write books similar to the Miss Julia series.  They might be good authors to search for!

Perhaps most helpful is to click on “Read Alikes from NoveList.”  NoveList is a program we subscribe to that compares books to one another based on similarities.  If you click there, you will get a selection of individual books that should be similar to the Miss Julia series.  They might not be books that our library has!  But if we don’t have them, you could always request them through SRCS and we could get them from another Indiana library.

Happy Reading!
