As a civic institution, the library encourages everyone to vote if they are eligible. In pursuit of that, and in honor of National Voter Registration Day earlier this week on the 22nd, here is some information about voting in Indiana:
- Voter registration deadline is October 5; if you are mailing your registration in, it needs to be postmarked October 5, so get it in early!
- Absentee ballots need to be requested by October 22. If you need to request an absentee ballot, you may do so by clicking “Visit My Voter Portal” here: https://indianavoters.in.gov/ In Floyd County, if you have questions about this process you can reach out to Nancy Riley at 812-948-5419
- If you have an absentee ballot, it must be postmarked by November 3 or your vote will not be counted.
- The COVID19 pandemic is NOT on the list of valid reasons to request a mail-in ballot this fall.
- Early Voting runs October 6-November 2. The library is not a voting site this year. The list of voting sites can be found here: https://floydcountyclerk.org/index.php/floyd-county-indiana-elections/floyd-county-indiana-vote-centers
- Election Day in November 3! The polling places listed at the above link will be open from 6AM-6PM.
Exercise your rights and do your duty to your community by voting!
