It’s almost that time of year where here, in the Northern Hemisphere, nature goes into hibernation for the winter.

It’s time for cozy family gatherings and curling up in a chair with your favorite book and a cup of hot cocoa.

You know, the COZY SEASON. Where we humans also snuggle in, so to speak.

The Danish people have a name for that: Hygge (hu̅gă).

From the Cambridge Dictionary:

hygge

noun [ U ]
/ˈhʊɡ.ə/

“a Danish word for a quality of coziness (= feeling warm, comfortable, and safe) that comes from doing simple things such as lighting candles, baking, or spending time at home with your family: The high season of hygge is Christmas, when Danes don’t hold back with the candles and mulled wine.”

The idea of Hygge speaks to people’s longing for simpler days, family, and hearth n’ home.
