On Tuesday, March 1, our Libby/Overdrive collection will be merging with a large consortium of libraries called the Indiana Digital Library. We are excited for the change, because it will give our patrons access to a collection of e-books, downloadable audiobooks, and digital magazines from almost 200 libraries across the state. The Indiana State Library will be paying the platform fees for the group. That means 100% of local library funds will be used to purchase books and audiobooks.

With the move to the new Indiana Digital Library, the number of items you can check out and the number of holds you can place is increasing! You will now be able to check out 10 items at a time and place 20 holds at a time. The default loan period will be set to 21 days, but you can choose to check out items for 7 days or 14 days if you don’t need them as long.

Some things to note:

  1. You will need to log in to your app again, using your library card number and PIN. (Your PIN is usually set to the last 4 digits of your phone number.)
  2. Items you currently have checked out and your holds list will still be there when you log back in.
  3. Your reading history will not be there. If you want to keep your reading history, you can download it. Here’s how:
    1. Libby – exporting reading history
    2. OverDrive – exporting reading history
  4. If you currently use the OverDrive app, you might consider making the switch to the Libby app. The OverDrive app is no longer supported and the Libby app is OverDrive’s updated version of it’s original app. Many patrons find Libby easier to use and if you have questions, we are happy to help!

We expect the merger to go smoothly, but if you run into trouble, you can always email us at info@nafclibrary.org or call 812-949-3522. We are always happy to help!
