The Coretta Scott King Award is given annually to both authors and illustrators to honor outstanding children’s and teen books by African-Americans reflecting the African-American experience. The first award was given in 1974, so there’s quite a list to come. If you need help getting one of these books (or any book), just talk to one of our librarians, and we’ll be glad to help you.
