If you visit the library, you’re probably an avid reader. Once you have read several books, it can be hard to keep track of what you have already read. I have checked out a book, gotten home to sit down and read, then figured out I have already read it. So, I am here to help you figure out a reading tracker that works best for you!

Goodreads

Readers from all over the world use Goodreads to track their reading. It is the largest online reading community, and making your reading profile is completely free. Through this online platform, you can enter book giveaways and write your own honest reviews. Reviews also consist of star ratings. There are also book recommendations lists, and many other fun things to explore on Goodreads. Definitely give this option a try! You can connect with your friends who read as well and make yearly reading goals. I would rate Goodreads 4 out of 5 stars.

The Story Graph

They Story Graph is an app that is a super fun way to track your reading. You can also use the webpage option if you do not want to download another app on your phone. There is a free option and a subscription option for tracking your reading. I use the free version, but my friends with the subscription version ($4.99/month) say it is very detailed for your personal reading tastes. There is even an option to have an 8-person buddy read with anyone who also has a Story Graph account. This app goes a little deeper than Goodreads in tracking by using colorful graphs and allowing you to add trigger/content warnings and words to describe books you read for other readers. The Story Graph allows you to make yearly reading goals for the number of books you read and number of pages you would like to read. The graphs break down what you read by genre, the words you use to describe the books, and the number of books and pages you read each month. This is by far my favorite way to keep track of my reading habits. I would rate The Story Graph 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Bullet Journaling

If you are not a fan of apps and computer screens, bullet journaling may be what works best for you to help keep track of your reading each month. You can buy these at any bookstore or online when you search for bullet reading journal trackers. These journals help you be creative by drawing book spines and pictures to go with the books you read. They can be done as often as you would like to do them. Daily, weekly, monthly. These are like diaries to keep and look back on your reading adventures. I would rate bullet journaling 4.5 out of 5 stars.

These are just some of the ways you can keep track of your reading throughout the year. Even if you just write titles and authors in a notebook, you can avoid checking out books you’ve already read and keep track of series and favorite authors.

Happy reading!
