The library has added programming and continues to add youth programming to our calendar. This month I will be featuring our program STEAM into Science. This program is geared for youth in elementary school, grades K-4.
Each month of this program, we will spell out a word in STEAM.
S – Science
T – Technology
E – Engineering
A – Art
M – Math
So far, we have used science to build our own pets and technology to find out how to navigate a map! In March, we will be fulfilling the letter E, or the engineering portion of STEAM. The super fun part is that this program will take place during Spring Break! Therefore, we have decided to call this month’s program, STEAM into Science – Spring Break Edition.
We will be meeting in the auditorium on March 29, 30, and 31 to learn all about land, sea, and air. Here is a small agenda of our program!
March 29: 2:00-3:30 (Land)
We will begin our day by reading the book “If I Built a Car” by Chris Van Dusen. The kids will then use their imaginations and the supplies available to build their own cars. There will be races and other fun activities!
March 30: 2:00-3:30 (Sea)
Day two will begin with a reading of “Story Boat” by Kyo Maclear. This will be the day kids build boats and make sure they float! We will have small bodies of water in containers for them to try out their boats as they build. The kids will even try out their boats on rough seas and calm seas to see how their boats fare in different conditions.
March 31: 2:00-3:30 (Air)
Day three we will read “Blown Away” by Rob Biddulph. What’s the best way to spend a windy day? Let’s make and fly our own kites! Kids will be able to design kites they can fly on a nice windy day.

We hope to see you during Spring Break!
