Upper elementary students and tweens are invited to join us once a month for our Newbery Club! The Newbery Award is one of the most prestigious awards given for children’s literature each year. Our children’s librarians love reading and discussing books, and in this program we will discuss criteria of the Newbery Award (characters, plot, setting, themes, and language), while also reading books written for children in 2022 by an American Author. We will nominate new books each month, and in December, there will be a ballot of Floyd County Newbery Nominees to vote for their favorite book of the year! Participating kids will get chances to develop their own opinions of what makes books worthy of reading, and root for their favorites.
