If you like to read the book before you watch the movie or tv show, consider this your heads-up for the awesome adaptations coming at us this year.

In February, Netflix is releasing their much-delayed movie version of Death on the Nile, available from the library as a book, ebook from OverDrive, ebook on Hoopla, and as eaudiobooks on Hoopla read by both classic Poirot actor David Suchet and new Poirot actor Kenneth Branagh.

Min Jin Lee’s epic novel Pachinko is coming to Apple TV+ this spring, and if you want to pregame this sweeping transcontinental event, you can read the book, large print book, audiobook CD, ebook, or eaudiobook on OverDrive.

Bullet Train, released by Sony Pictures July 15, has a thrilling cast including Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock, and the equally thrilling book, about Japanese assassins confronting one another on a train, is still in our New books section.

It feels like you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who hasn’t read Where the Crawdads Sing already, but with a movie coming in July from Reese Witherspoon’s production company and starring the actress from Hulu’s Normal People (also available as a book/ebook/eaudiobook for anyone interested), there’s bound to be renewed interest. Get the book, large print book, audiobook CD, playaway audiobook, ebook, or eaudiobook before the wait list grows!

Amazon has announced a September 2 release date but not a title for their Lord of the Rings prequel series. There are dozens of things to read or watch that will put you in the mood for this one, so for simplicity’s sake I’ll link you to the library search results and let you choose for yourself.

The writer of 2017’s It remake (book/audiobook CD/ebook/original movie)  is back again, this time with ‘Salem’s Lot, coming from Warner Brothers September 9. The library has this classic vampire tale as a print book and an ebook.

There are some other exciting things in the works, but until they get a release date I’ll hold off on getting myself too hyped up. I hope your year is off to a good start, and that you’re finding good things to read and watch!
