Lots of things have been different in the last year, but did you know that you can still attend storytime with the Floyd County Public Library? They are a little different, but we have plenty of options to keep you safe! Our Virtual Toddler and Virtual Preschool storytimes are offered weekly through Zoom. No registration is required, and the storytimes are recorded with the consent of participants so that they can be posted to our social media for later viewing.

Our virtual storytimes have lots of the same elements as our in-person storytimes: we like to begin and end with a welcome and closing song, we alternate between some sort of interactive song, finger play or felt activity, we’ve started to explore Baby American Sign Language (ASL) and of course, we also feature a new book each week. The book we read together can also be logged in our online reading challenges, like RecBar Readers or count toward your Summer Reading book total! Make sure you visit or revisit our Virtual Preschool storytimes this month as we celebrate Black History month. Ms. Jamie will be sharing some fun #OwnVoices stories from Overdrive!

As things continue to change, be sure to visit our Events Calendar on the Floyd Library website. This is where all events are posted, and more importantly, where you can find instructions on how to access any virtual programming we may come up with in the future. We sure do miss you, but our first priority is our patrons and keeping them safe. Be sure to visit us virtually, and check out Virtual Storytime. We hope to see you there!
