Dear Friends of the Library,

Saturday, June 21st is the next Friends of the Library book sale.  Please note that the sale starts at 8:00 am and goes on to noon.  We are trying to beat the summer heat. Throughout the sale, we will be bringing out books to restock the carts and tables-come early, show up later or stay the entire sale, we will have great books for you. We will also have a special treat: My Friends Coffee Truck will have coffee drinks and other goodies available for purchase during the sale right in our parking lot. We are expecting another fantastic sale thanks to your patronage and to everyone who has donated books.  Through the generous donations, we have been able to not only restock but have some truly unique books available for your reading pleasure and intellectual curiosity.   Keep those books, CDs, DVDs, etc. coming.  Remember, all funds are used to support our New Albany Floyd County Library.  THANK YOU!

This sale will be in The Floyd County Library’s large parking lot near the annex building at 180 W Spring St, New Albany, IN. Rain date: Saturday, June 28, 2025.

We again have a HUGE selection of fantastic books on almost every topic and genre.  Whether you read fiction or nonfiction (we have topics ranging from aardvarks to Zen) we have books for you.  Reminder, if you don’t find the book(s) you want by author or topic on our sales floor (parking lot), please ask one of the volunteers for assistance. We would be happy to help you find the book or books you are looking for.  We have THOUSANDS of gently read, near new or new, rare, unusual, and interesting books for you, some are signed by the authors.  We also have DVDs, CDs, LPs, Puzzles and other interesting items.

Unless otherwise marked, regular prices are $1 for hardback and 50 cents for paperback books.  Children’s books are 25 cents.  Cash and check only. All proceeds and donations are used to support our library.

We want to thank all of you who have donated books – we couldn’t do these sales without you and your wonderful books; your donations help support our Library.   If you have books to donate, please use the drop box located on the Annex Building to the right of the door (the building with the beautiful murals), you can also bring them to the Friends during the sale or the Friend’s bookstore Monday, Wednesday, or Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 (bookstore phone number: (812) 949-3739).

We have too many books to list here, however, here is a list of some of the categories of books you can expect to find and some highlights:

Classics and Modern Classics – We have some great/must reads for you.  We have classics by Mark Twain, Mary Shelley, Jack London, Pearl S. Buck, Elie Wiesel, Nathaniel Hawthorne, William Golding, George Eliot and many others.

Children’s books (25 cents each) – The donations of children’s books keep rolling in and we have a wonderful selection of books for children from zero to 13 years.    We have both fiction and nonfiction books for every reading level and interest.  Many of these books look new or near new.  We are highlighting Big Books, cats, dogs and horses, African American, Native American, and Disney. We have new stock for children from 8 to 12.

Children Gift Books – We have a huge selection of beautiful children’s books in wonderful condition (priced as marked).  These books make wonderful gifts.

Choice Selections, Gift Books and Friends Picks – Located in the center table. These are books in excellent condition, with a wide array of topics. Books include Egyptian Myths and Tales; Ancient Greece; T.C. Steele; It’s About Thyme; The Skillful Forager; Wildflowers of Indiana and many more (priced as marked).

Booktok Books – Check out this NEW section-we have the books you want to read.  Authors include Miranda, Doerr, Mijkamp, Winstead and many more (Priced as marked; center table).

In the News – These books are about recent world events or people and politicians in the news and shedding light on what is happening now, including The Manipulators by Peter Hasson and Permanent Distortion by Nomi Prins.

New Fiction – We have a wonderful selection of recently (2023, 2024 and 2025) published books (priced as marked).  Including authors such as Joan Didion, Kristin Hannah and John Grisham.

Fiction from A to Z – The carts and tables are full of new stock fiction titles for your reading pleasure.  We have so many great books that I was unable to select just a few to list here.  If you don’t see your author – ask one of the volunteers, and we will see if we have the book, we are happy to assist you.

Historical Fiction- Check out the huge selection of historical fiction including these authors: Tasha Alexander and Markus Zusak and many more.

Holiday Center (center table and children’s area) – We are celebrating and recognizing many different holidays and events such as Father’s Day, Christmas in June, and the 4th of July with books on our Founding Fathers, US Presidents and the Revolutionary War.

Center Table Surprises- Stop by the center tables to see what surprises we have in store for you.  For example, we have books on the Art of Japanese Warfare.  We have just received a HUGE selection of Great Courses (many are still in plastic wrap), prices are $15 and under per set.  Examples of courses – Amazon, The Renaissance, the Reformation and the Rise of Nations, How to Listen to and Understand Great Music, and many many more.

Coffee Table Books – Just in, a beautiful selection of coffee table books on Artists and Art Museums.

African American – We have a large selection of nonfiction, biographies, literature for adults and books by African American authors.  The children’s section has a great selection of African American books for children.   Check out this section for some great reads.

Horror – We have books by Laurell Hamilton, Dean Koontz, Frank Peretti and many more spooky authors.  We have the horror books you have been looking for.

Fantasy– We have books by your favorite authors including L.E. Modesitt, Anne McCaffrey, and Katherine Kurtz.

Science Fiction – The Sci Fi section includes a wonderful selection of authors including L.Ron Hubbard.

Young Adult Fiction – The Young Adult section has a great selection of books and series!! We have books by Alex Fuvall, Ron Gamer, Stephanie Meyer, J.K. Rowlings and many others.

Mysteries – We have a large selection of books by classic mystery writers, historical mysteries and cozies.  We are highlighting mysteries by Lisa Gardner.   Check out the wonderful selection of “Just In” mysteries.  If you don’t see the author/book you want, ask one of the volunteers, we may have the book.

Short Stories, Essays, Large Print and Erotica – This is a very eclectic section-check it out.

Humor, TV-Tie In, and Media – Books include The History of TV and Celebrity Run Ins by Kathy Griffin and many more – Check out this fun mix of books.

New Age and Parapsychology – We have a wide range of topics including Science of the Mind, Unity Founders and much more

Happily, Ever After – We are featuring authors:  Jude Deveraux, Johanna Lindsey and Carla Neggers.  Popular Fiction has books by Debbie Macomber, Nora Roberts and J.D.Robb.  If you don’t see the title you are looking for, ask one of the volunteers for assistance

Christian and Amish Fiction – We had a great donation of books, including books by Lori Wick and Robin Jones Gunn.

Contemporary Romance, Spicy Novels and Paranormal Romance –Authors in this section include Marie Force, Janet Dailey, Lori Foster, and Jayne Ann Krentz.

Native American – We are featuring native American stories on the center table.

Fiction Set in the West- Life in the US West-Past and Recent Past.  We have books by James Alexander Thom, William W. Johnstone, and many more.

Action Adventure – We have a HUGE selection of adventures in war and peace. We have both classic and new authors—check out these reads.  Authors include Jack Higgins, Adrian Magson and many more.

LGBTQ+ – Check out the new titles in fiction.

History – We received a wonderful donation of books on ancient Greek and Roman History.   Do you have an era, war or country you are particularly interested in learning about? – we probably have a book you must read, just ask our volunteers for assistance.

Arts, Crafts and Do-It-Yourself – We have a load of books for home, yard, patio and pool do-it-yourself.

Cookbooks– We have wonderful books by the Pioneer Woman, Gigda de Louvent, Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart and many regional cookbooks.

Sports and Travel- It is time to get in shape with our exercise CD’s.  And get outside with books on running and hiking.  For those long flights to your vacation destination, we have books on sports personalities.  We have travel books: Rick Steve, Disney and National Parks.

Animals – We have a wide selection of animal stories and care of animals.

Art, Theatre (Plays), Literature, Photography, Architecture, Poetry, Music and Dance– Check out the new titles, we have a wide selection in all areas. Great collection of books on photography and art.  We have a large selection of books on architecture.

Biographies- Books about authors, actors, politicians, sports figures, and many others. We are featuring biographies about Women.

Gardening, Science and Nature – We have an exceptional selection of books in all scientific areas and books about scientists and naturalists; these are great summer reads.

Politics and Political Science – We have books written by politicians, journalists and other experts to help you understand the current and past political environments.

Kentuckiana – Find out about the fascinating region you live in.   We just received a large selection of books about Kentucky.

Foreign Language (Spanish literature, Spanish authors) Reference, Business and Personal Finance – Check out this section – we received a large donation of books on learning Greek (ask a volunteer if you don’t see the book you want) and learning language for dummies.

Archeology, Anthropology, Mythology, Folklore, Philosophy and Sociology – Check out this interesting section with books on Star Wars Philosophy and Egyptian Mythology.

Medicine and Alternate Medicine – We have books to help you understand different phases of life, medical issues and women’s health issues.

Self Help –We have books to assist with boosting your health and wellbeing.

Religion – We just received a wonderful collection of books on Religious Studies and a variety of Bible translations.  We are also featuring books on prayer.

DVDs, CDs, LPs and more.  We have a HUGE selection of new stock CDs and DVDs. Including a large assortment of movies and TV series on DVD.  We have dramas, comedies, buddy movies, science fiction, and fantasy to name a few areas (unless otherwise marked $1).  We have music of all types – whatever you like to listen to, we have it.
